Hit Refresh: Transform Your Life with These 12 Reset Strategies
As I get older, I get an urge every once in a while to do a life reset; I think with time moving along and life piling up it all starts feeling overwhelming. I need to pause, and just start over. This usually happens in the spring or fall, which I think is a more appropriate time to “start over” than the new year. Shoot me a message so I know I’m not the only one who feels this way!
This post is all about simple steps to take to do a life reset. A life reset involves making significant changes in various aspects of your life to create a more fulfilling and positive future. Each person’s “reset” will look different for each individual, so give yourself grace to see significant results! The best thing you can do is to stay committed to your vision of a better life; adjust your plan as needed along the way, and keep moving forward. Consistency is key for pretty much everything in life, and a life reset is no different.

Here are steps to help you initiate a life reset:
Self-Reflection: Start by reflecting on your current situation. Grab some paper or open a Google Doc and ask yourself why you want to reset your life. Is it because you're unhappy with certain aspects, feel stuck, or want to pursue new goals and dreams? Understanding your motivations is essential.
Set Clear Goals: Define what you want to achieve with this reset. Your goals should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART). Having clear objectives will help guide your actions.
Create a Vision: Envision the life you want to live after the reset. What does it look like? What changes do you need to make to align with this vision? Visualizing your desired future can be a powerful motivator. If it helps, create a vision board with pictures or quotes in your room so your goals are always front and center.
Evaluate Your Priorities: Consider your values and priorities in life. Are you currently spending your time and energy on things that truly matter to you? Make a list of your top priorities and use it as a reference when making decisions.
Declutter: Declutter your physical space, your digital life, and even your social circle. Get rid of possessions, commitments, or relationships that no longer serve you or align with your new goals. Physical, mental, or social clutter can really drain your mental energy and can hold you back from achieving your goals.
Set a Plan: Develop a concrete plan of action to achieve your goals. Break down your goals into smaller, manageable steps. Create a timeline for when you'd like to achieve them. Having a plan will make your reset more achievable.
Learn and Grow: Invest in your personal and professional development. Acquire new skills, take courses, and read books that can help you on your journey. Continuous learning can open up new opportunities.
Seek Support: Don't hesitate to reach out to friends, family, or a therapist for emotional support and guidance. Sharing your goals and progress with others can help you stay accountable. Or not! Sometimes, it can be helpful to keep your life reset to yourself so you don’t have to hear unnecessary comments. Of course, if someone does make negative comments about your life rest then that can be a sign to say adios to them!
Embrace Change: Be open to change and adaptability. Understand that a life reset may come with challenges and discomfort, but these experiences can be opportunities for growth.
Take Action: Implement the changes you've planned. Consistent action is crucial to achieving your goals and creating the life you desire.
Stay Patient and Persistent: Understand that a life reset is a process that takes time. Stay patient and persistent, even when faced with setbacks or obstacles. More often than not, when you embark on significant changes you will experience obstacles. Just keep in mind your end goal to help you get over those hurdles.
Celebrate Achievements: Celebrate your successes, no matter how small they may seem. Acknowledging your progress can boost your motivation and confidence! Treat yourself to coffee, a night out, a new wardrobe, anything that helps you along your journey.
I hope this helps you along your life reset! This isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach; each person has their own pressures or stresses that will determine which reset steps are best. Follow your gut! You know yourself better than anyone and will know which parts of your life need more attention and care. Feel free to message me if this post helps or if there’s something that would be beneficial to add to a life reset!
