Life at 33: What I've Learned So Far

Hi y’all! I’m still learning about this crazy thing called life. I would never call myself an expert on anything, so take my thoughts/opinions with a grain of salt. But I’ve written out some things I’ve observed/learned throughout my life. It’s not in any particular order, and it’s definitely not conclusive!

Feel free to shoot me a message if there are some things you’ve learned throughout your life! I’m all for hearing about more tips and tricks :)

  1. Follow your gut, always.

  2. Last things first.

  3. If buying an overpriced coffee or tea will make your day better, then go ahead and do it.

  4. Make sure your life partner handles stress well.

  5. People are too wrapped up in their own head to be watching you/thinking about you.

  6. Everyone is going through their own shit.

  7. You end up realizing your parents really did the best they could.

  8. No one ever has their life figured out.

  9. Love really is a form of magic.

  10. Everything is best in moderation.

  11. Think about saving/planning for retirement as soon as you can.

  12. There will always be a plan B.

  13. Cliche, but if it won’t matter in 5 years there’s no point in worrying about it now.

  14. Get outside as much as you can.

  15. Don’t forget your neck when you’re applying face cream.

  16. Make sure you stay hydrated each day.

  17. Love and fear are similar motivators.

  18. People are much more interested in talking about themselves than talking about you.

  19. There really is a reason for each person’s behavior. It doesn’t excuse it but there’s always an reason.

  20. Never trust a blinker; conversely, wait a beat before going after a red light turns green.

  21. Done is better than perfect.

  22. Nothing beats a Nyquil-night's sleep sometimes.

  23. Showing enthusiasm and appreciation for your boyfriend/husband goes a long way.

  24. Everyone has an angle (good or bad).

  25. Take caution when buying a home that was a “fixer-upper”.

  26. You can’t change anyone. It’ll only happen if they truly want to (don’t wait around for that)

  27. Taking responsibility can instantly diffuse a tough situation.

  28. The baby years will be some of the roughest for yourself and your partner. Make sure you take time to nurture both; it'll pay off as the years go by.

  29. If your kids feel love and comfort at home then you're already a better parent than you think.

  30. The key to reaching people is to make them feel appreciated.

  31. The truth in this quote: "if it's not okay, it's not the end".

  32. Karma always comes around. Whether it's a couple days or a few years (or many years), it'll come around.

  33. If a situation is bad (job, relationship, friendship, etc.) get out quickly. There’s no sense in staying in pain just for pain’s sake.
